Obsidian Eye
KeywordsImplant
Treasure9
Price16
The Obsidian Eye is a black glass sphere about the same size as a normal eyeball. An iris and pupil, inlaid with silver and lapis, are carved on one side. On examination the eye radiates an aura of Black Order magic, but otherwise appears inert.

The Eye has no power unless it is used to replace the missing eye of a living Keldian. When inserted into an eye socket in this way the Eye bonds with its new owner, and cannot be removed without injury. When implanted the lapis pupil widens, and appears to glow with a faint blue radiance as long as the eye is open.

The bearer of the Eye has their vision altered to reveal hidden or magical things. They gain the Passing Gift and +4 Observation at all times, and have a chance to notice hidden items, concealed doors, and the like even when not actively searching. (Make an unresisted roll of Intelligence + Observation -5).

In addition, by concentrating, they can see the flows of magic that move through the world, which appear as networks of luminescent blue lines. By following these flows they can detect active and passive spells, find magical items, or use Tracking to follow the traces of recently cast spells back to their caster. A roll of Int + Sorcery will allow them to locate an area in which magical flows are stronger (spells get a free power level) or weaker (+1 Channelling) if one is nearby. Using the eye in this way is taxing, inflicting one fatigue for every 10 minutes of use.

The final power of the Eye is the most potent, and also the most dangerous for the bearer. By looking another person directly in the eye (and taking a point of Lethal Damage) they may see into their mind and soul, discovering the most important secret that the target wishes to hide at the moment of contact. The target can resist the gaze by winning a contest of Presence versus Will (each attempt takes one combat round). If immediately revealed this secret instantly inflicts 6 Social Damage. Alternatively it may be held back for other purposes. The target of this power is always aware that their mind has been plundered, and conceives an instant hatred for the Eye bearer, and a desire to own the Eye. If they can cut the eye from the bearer's head and place it into their own, then all secrets taken from them are instantly forgotten by all who heard them.
Obsidian Rod
KeywordsAncient, Charged
Treasure5
Price14
Obsidian Rods are stubby wands of the finest obsidian, their entire surface traced out with runes almost to fine to see. It is thought that once the Ancients used them as part of their magics. They are only found in the ruins of the Ancients cities.

A Rod has a number of uses: For 1 charge it will blow apart a wooden object, such as a door, that it is pressed against, and for 3 charges it will do the same to a block of stone up to 1/3 of a stride thick. For 4 charges it will absorb the deadly energies of a damaging spell, such as Sun’s Curse, and for 5 it can melt a metal object up to the size of a chair into twisted slag. A rod, when found, typically has 13 to 25 charges, and cannot be recharged; when it runs out of charges it crumbles into dust.
Obsidian Soul
Treasure10
Price25
Once in a century a Stonetalker might stumble upon this most valuable of stones, a natural Obsidian Gem that falls from the rock face at a Stonetalker's touch. When discovered an Obsidian Soul is empty and sleeping, but a Stonetalker can make an Intelligence + Healing / Stones roll resisted by a 16 to wake it. Once awoken an Obsidian Soul must be carried close to the body. When the one wearing it dies their soul and spirit passes into the stone. If their body can be restored to positive Health, and the Soul breathed upon by a Stonetalker, then their spirit returns to their body and brings it back to life. When this happens the Obsidian Soul cracks, and no longer has power.

Only a Stonetalker can identify such a stone. They must be in the deep Obsidian hills, spend at least two weeks searching, and succeed in an identification roll resisted by a 40 (see Stonetalker rules).
Orb of Fiery Brilliance

Price14
An Orb of Fiery Brilliance is a large yellowing stone, spherical and smooth to the touch. An Orb is always warm, and appears to glow dimly. Its true power is only revealed when it is taken far from the lands of Nagash, where it can be found, to the Dark Side. Here its glow exceeds that of a strong lamp. Additionally if placed on the ground it generates enough heat to prevent all those within 4 strides suffering any ill effects of the cold.
