KeywordsPort, Nightlands
RoutesIceway
Greystone is the chief town of the 4th of Ur, which lies in the Ice Hills. It is Nightwards and Counter-turn of Ur. A typical river barge can make the journey in four days, while a Black Ship might manage half of that.

Greystone is a town of thick walled stone buildings lying at the mouth of a dramatic fjord. The cliff walls behind the town are steep and craggy, striped with bands of grey-green stone and overhung by dripping cloud forest. Four Klegs Nightwards a tumultuous waterfall plunges off the clifftop at the head of the fjord, throwing up a constant curtain of mist. Greystone is primarily a fishing town, and small boats ply the cool waters of the One River, catching Nirpad and Ubiku. Timber and Zerom wool from the interior are brought down to be traded in the town, and fish sauce is a major export.

Greystone lines on the Iceway, the road that links Chald and Derzak along the line of the Ice Hills. The road proper is actually six Klegs Nightwards, above the head of the fjord. A smaller outpost, Greystone crossing, lies at the junction.

Korom
KeywordsPort, Ur
SizeHamlet
Korom is one of a number of small port settlements that follow the route of the Canal and the Ravenway across Ur Island. Sited to the Darkwards of the Canal and the road, Korom is a small fishing port on the banks of the main river channel that flows to the Nightwards of the island. Boats sometimes put in here from small villages such as Amora Village.

Korom is a collection of stone and stucco buildings surrounding a small shallow bay where boats can anchor. What wood is to be seen in the place is old and weathered, from the time before the island was cleared. It is under the administration of a single Bonded One.

RegionOne River
The unimpressively named Lion's Elbow is little more than a hamlet in the depths of the Poison Forest. It's claim to fame is that it forms the port closest to Last Home on the Lion's Path. Merchant's routinely use it to load and unload cargo on its way between Last Home and Ur so as to bypass the muddy treachery that is the Lion's Path.

Nugtown
KeywordsPort, Ur
Nugtown is a small settlement on the shores of the wide One-River channel that runs Nightwards of Ur, otherwise known as the River of Ur. It is named because Nug flowers grow throughout the surrounding jungle. Stilted wooden houses run along the shore, surrounding a jetty that juts out into river. A ferry runs from here to [place Korom] on the Ur shore on an occasional basis.
Soletta
KeywordsVillage, Port
Routes
Soletta is a One River settlement near to the ruins of Nammu, a base for adventurers and treasure seekers to venture into the ruins, for good or ill. Officially a scion village of Nistray, Soletta is nearly lawless. The appointed Aedile rarely leaves their palace, and their Bonded Ones are more concerned with taxing treasure looted from Nammu than with preventing people from entering them.

Soletta sprawls along both sides of a river channel, with the Aedile's palace on a low hill on the turnwards bank. Wooden jetties jut out into the dark water, festooned with red and yellow lamps. Most of the habitations are on the counter side of the channel, and the majority of the docks are on the same side.

Sorgan's Fall
Sorgan's Fall is a small town built where the Iceway crosses the Coldwater, a wide and rapid river that thunders through the black ice Hills rock and surges away Daywards to the One River. The waterfall known as Sorgan's Fall was the site of a famous battle between Ur and Derzak in the 6th Century of Empire. The river is navigable to small boats both below and above the fall, but boats must portage around the falls themselves.

The town of Sorgan's Fall is built on the Turnwards side of the river with a long bridge of rough wood crossing a series of stone piers just above the top of the falls (which are level with the road). A steep trail leads down to the lower part of the river, where a second dock is located. Small barges unload at this lower port and transfer their cargo to the upper one. Often this cargo is then loaded on a second boat, but sometimes the boat is raised by crane and winch to the top of the falls.

Sorgan's Fall is beholden to Ur, but the lands of Derzak lie just on the other side of the river, where a small guard tower is located to watch the crossing. It is 3 days Counter of Tarfell.

Sword Landing
KeywordsPort, Derzak
Sword Landing is the name given to a small port village on the Sunwards bank of the One River about 100 Klegs Turnwards of Ur. Although larger and more convenient ports lie to the Counter, Sword Landing is the first spot firmly outside of Ur's control that gives access to the lands beyond Nistray. As such it forms the main landing point for Derzaki and Chaldian ships bound for the Reachway and Hellgrass Reach.

Despite it's strategic importance to Derzak, Sword Landing is not a huge community. Almost everyone here is just passing through, and local industry is confined to ship repair and fishing. The Landing is nevertheless well fortified with thick walls of mud brick and wooden beams, and presents an intimidating prospect to travellers from the landward side.
