The word of the Lord was written long ago in sacred texts. Since that day
the church has always thought o gloriphy the words of the prophets, in carving,
stained glass, and most improtantly of all, in the illuminated word. The illuminator
is a Priest who has dedicated his life to the production of such holy works.
From the first cleaning of the calf-skin to make vellum to the painstaking
mixing and painting of colours many illuminators will dedicate their whole
lives to a single great work, often toiling alone in one of the vast scriptoriums
for days on end without leaving. Other illuminators make a living by penning
fine manuscripts of prayers and blessings for people to buy. Other Illuminators
work for the major monestaries or one of the Archpriests, on some great holy
work.
