About me
My name is David Donachie, and I am a web developer.
For the past 6 years I have worked in various positions in Universities in Edinburgh, as well as doing a number of contract jobs in the years before that. I am a skilled web developer and programmer. I have designed web applications in ASP, PHP, Perl, ColdFusion, Javascript and more, using databases in Access, MySQl, SQL server amongst others. Give me just about any platform, and any programming language, and I can produce a web application in it. Even if I don't know the language I will learn it quickly.
In addition I am skilled in all forms of normal web design including layout, structure, and graphics or animations. For the acronym obsessed I can do HTML, XHTML, XML, XSL, DHTML, CSS, CGI, as well as using Photoshop, Director and Flash. My previous job was in e-learning, so I also have particular expertise in Learning Technology, electronic assessment, learning object design, forum management, Virtual Learning Environments, course management and accessibility legislation.
I am currently looking for work in the Edinburgh or Glasgow areas. I am also happy to do contract work, and to work from home. I am interested in any sort of web design, web programming, application design, or general web support. I am as happy going into general web development as I am staying in the academic area. I am also interested in going into computer games design.
