Well not much changed (apart from my home page) since the last entry here, but I have finally added current Council lists in the Town Hall and Janet should be working on a new library list. John Wilson, the new Minister will be taking over the Convention pages in the temple. There have been minor improvements to the Noticeboards as well as the addition of a banner at the top reminding people of the debt we owe to the University in allowing us to have the pages. The Graveyard seems dead, and the Encyclopedia is not going anywhere, but I intend the later at least to change as soon as my exams are done and I have the time.

November 18th 1996

New pages, a new street. Check out Long Street and the Graveyard of old characters, contributions wanted! A few new things for the encyclopedia as awlays, though its not growing as fast as I would like unfortunatly.

Still to come soon, christmas decorations, some art in the gallery, an image for Long Street, the list of the comittee and library, update of the constitution and anything else people want. People? Anyone still read this?

November 5th 1996

Well a long time has passed sine the last post here, and things have only changed a bit. There are a few more things in the Encyclopedia, a few more noticeboards and a few changes to the pages.

Importantly the consititution is finally up in the Library in the Town Hall, its taken forever, but its there, along with proposed ammendments for this years AGM. Also the temple has been substatially changed and is now a convention page, both for our beloved Conpulsion and for other people's as well. These pages work best with Netscape 3.0, if you aren't using it, why not! [grin]

Finally we would be incomplete without some new problems caused by our move to a new server, holyrood.ed.ac.uk, specifically the script that creates the woodelf index doesn't work any more. The index is still there, but not as up to date as it could be. We know about the problem and we are working on it with woodelf, so hopefully we will find a way. [cue portentious music]

July 18th 1996

The layout of the Mummer's Tent (Noticeboard index) has been revamped, and a number of new boards for factions/groups of the Gathering have been added, expect to see more in the future. As always there are also a few new entries in the Encyclopedia.

July 10th 1996

There is now a new street in the Village, Serpent Street (Turn left from Pit Street). Here you will find the forest, the Printers (all about printing your own RPG) and the Art Gallery, which requires contributions to fill it up!

July 4th 1996

A few new Encyclopedia entires, as always, and a file on the laws of Cartooning in the Wizard's House. Current plans include:

June 21st 1996

After a big pause for essays, end of term work etc. there have been a few shakeups in the Village. First and formost the front page has been redesigned, with a lot less text on it, and arrows have been added to the top of every page pointing to the next area of the village in the appropriate direction.

Secondly the contents of the Harbour have now moved to the docks, which had nothing in it, and the noticeboards have moved to the Mummer's Tent, pushing the convention stuff into the Temple. All bookmarks amd actual URL's remain the same, however, just a swapping around of titles to give the noticeboards a more important place.

There have been a load of new additions to the encyclopedia, taking the number of articles up to 228. These include a new Introductions to Roleplaying series of articles, discussing background ideas and concepts in Roleplaying. Also look out for the game system hidden in the Encyclopedia.

Last, but by no means least, the What's Good page has now been changed into a work of beauty, a taste of things to come? Who knows. In any case is emphasises the new principle behind the Village, we can't cram everything onto the front page, so if you want to find something good, explore.

May 28th 1996

Well the woodelf mirror is here, if anyone has noticed. Unfortunatly the stats. programe here is bust at the moment, so we don't know who has looked at what, but accesses are up! I have also moved the Noticeboards, they all now reside in http://www.eusa.ed.ac.uk/societies/geas/Notices/, which also contains Perl Lane, for easy access.

I would also like to start the "save the fornt page" campaign, its become so confused that I'm sure it is almost unusable now. I need suggestions on how to change it. Should I dump most of the text? Should I move the signpost up further towards the top, do we need text descriptions on another page?

May 15th 1996

The Encyclopedia seems to be a success, or will be with more files. I have just tweaked the search script, and you can now get a current list of links to all entries as well.

Also in the offing is a mirror of the famous woodelf links pages, keep waiting!

April 26th 1996

The Encyclopedia is well on its way, with 58 articles already. So far we have basic introcuctory stuff, definition of RPG terms, etc. so what we want next is sytem reviews and biographies of famous people in roleplaying. If you know a famours person in the gaming world, or if you are a famous person in the gaming world, and you want to write a breif 2-3 paragraph bography, then please contact us at the usual email address.

Projects At GEAS

We have a number of Projects at GEAS that we wish to get going for the Village:

Talking of the Wizard's House, there are a nmber of new files there so please have a look.

April 10th 1996

Disasters and conniptions. As active people may know I accidently deleted all the images from the account. I have restored almost all of them now, and the rest will return soon, but if you spot any missing pictures then tell me.

On the new front you can finally take the Artefact to the Temple of Thalm in the Adventure. The option was removed because of problems with the script, but it now works, so that part of the adventure is actually completable.

March 19th 1996

A new sub-page of the Docks has now been made, which will contain links to other Web-pages like ours, clubs with good RPG material, on-line fantasy enviroments used as a background for web pages and so on. I have also updated the link to the Great Net Book Archive on the AD&D page in the Harbour and added a couple of links to my own homepage for Eldar (shameless plug for me).

March 13th 1996

Sorry for the long silence. Things have happened, but they have all been rushed. There were many problems with the Notice Boards, some from the scripts, some from the users, all of which have now been solved. The Inner Room board has now also become a World of Darkness board.

There is now some new material available in the Wizard's House, a scenario that was kindly gifted too us and some new Lego-wars stuff. There is more to come as well.

Finally there is now a new Future Games section in the Inn, in a seperate file. This is for people within GEAS to advertise for games they are going to play. It will probably die like every other attempt at such a list, but its worth a try.

Feburary 6th 1996

Various minor changes. There are various new notice-boards, including one for the Gathering, all indexed on Pearl Lane. Next in the offing is an overall roadmap of the Village available from the front page, with a link to every page. This will probably have to be at least slightly symbollic I think, just to have enough room on it. The Town Hall stuff has been amended, I suppose the Inn and Temple should have the same treatment.
