Ambergris (uncommon -3, 6s/ounce, sympathy none)
This amber-like substance washes up sometimes after storms in the autumn. It is pliable and greasy to the touch.


B


Base Mullein (common -1, 8p/pound, sympathy none, grow -0)
Has power over burns.

Black Sapphire (rare -10, 10ata or more, sympathy none)
This legendary stone is said to be able to catalyse the change of lead into gold in the philosophers egg. The stone is said to be as black as night and as hard as diamond.

Bloodstone (rare -5, 8s/pound, sympathy none)
This strange stone is the colour of blood, and when ground into a powder takes on the colour of dried blood. It is said to originate only in a few narrow seams.

Colewort (common -2, 8p/pound, sympathy none, grow -2)
Helps one to remain sober.

Camurius Stone (rare -6, 4ata, sympathy none)
A magical stone taken from the head of a giant catfish. Can be used in the periapt of marvelous healing.

Cat's Tail (common -0, 6p/pound, sympathy none, grow -0)
A reed like plant which grows in marshes. Said to have soverign power over injuries to the heel.

Centuary Root (rare -5, 2-3s/root, sympathy Rotor (2), grow -3)
The rare divided root of a field plant that grows in long grassa nd has many small pink flowers. This root can be used in poisons, potions of mind control and iron potion.

Chrysoberyl Stone (rare -4, 2ata/stone, sympathy none)
This is a translucent crystal, sometimes green, sometimes pink in colour. It is said to have magical properties upon light, and to catalyse changes in noble metals.

Comfrey (common -0, 1s/pound, sympathy Asathor (1/2), grow -1)
A common field herb that can be used in magic powder and healing preparations. Comfrey is also hung in bunches to ward off evil.

Caedmon's Jade (rare -4, 2ata/pound, sympathy none)
This greasy substance is geen like jade, and is found only in small deposits in marshlands. It can be used in the ointment of Caedmon's Jade.

Deacon's Lily (Southern) (rare -5, 1s/plant, sympathy Asathor (1), grow -4)
A white flower with long golden stamens. Can be used in Osseka's Ointment.

Dill (common -0, 4p/pound, sympathy none, grow -0)
Used in bandages, love potions, and sweet smelling oils.

Dock Leaf (common +1, 1p/pound, sympathy none, grow -0)
Used in many poultices, healing potions and ointments.

Dittany (common -2, 10p/pound, sympathy none, grow -1)
A woodland herb that has great power over splinters. Used in healing poultices and ointments.

Deacon's Lily (Northern) (rare -3, 1s/plant, sympathy Asathor (1), grow -4)
A white flower with long golden stamens. Can be used in magic poweder.

Dead Man's Ear (ucommon -2, 2-3s/pound, sympathy none, grow -5)
This brown fungi can be used in place of grave earth.

Elecampane (rare -3, 4s/pound, sympathy Artor (1), grow -2)
The leaves of this hillside herb can be powdered and used in aphrodesiacs and perfumes.

Estanol Clay (rare -4, 6s/ounce, sympathy none)
Clay from the stream beds of the far isle of Estanol is said to have curative properties. Laid on a fevered brow it can draw illness from it.

Feverfew and Monk's Feverfew (uncommon -2, 8p/pound, sympathy none, grow -8)
Small marsh plants used in fever poultices and charms as well as infusions.

Fetherfew (uncommon -3, 1s/plant, sympathy none, grow -2)
This small flower protects one from vertigo and the falling sickness. It is used in protective charms against falling.

Galingale (uncommon -3, 2p/plant, sympathy none, grow -2)
This plant warms the body and sharpens the mind. It is used as the main component in Archon's tea. Taken whole it is very addictive.

Ginger (uncommon -3, 1s/root, sympathy none, grow -2)
A potent spice brought from the southern lands, Ginger is said to have marvelous powers of restoration and healing of lost energies.

Golden Langwort (common -2, 6p/plant, sympathy none, grow -2)
A meadow flower, with golden flowers. It is said to be very good for the ears. Used in Hare's oil.

Hawthorn (common +3, 2p/pound, sympathy none, grow -0)
The twigs can be used in a variety of wards and protective charms, including the striking charm.


J


Jacinth Stone (rare -5, 3ata/stone, sympathy none)
The Jacinth Stone is an orange to red precious stone which can be formed into pendants with power against disease.


L


Lettuce Leaf (common +3, 1p/pound, sympathy none, grow +1)
A component in healing poultices and ointments.

Ligurius Stone (uncommon -3, 2ata, sympathy none)
The Ligurius stone is sometimes (around one time in twenty) found in the ground in places where Lynxis have urinated for some time.

Laurel (common -1, 2s/pound, sympathy Gryphus (1/2), grow -4)
Laurel leaves can be used as part of Iron Potion and the Lily Curse, as well as other curse potions and weakness potions.

Lark's Heel (rare -5, 1s/plant, sympathy Draco (1/2), grow -3)
This odd plant has small bright white flowers, and serrated leaves. It is hated by snakes and serpents of all sorts who will not eat it.


M


Moss (common +2, negligible, sympathy none, grow -2)
Moss of all sorts is important in poultices, bandages and compresses, as it absorbs ill humors.

Mint (common +1, 6p/pound, sympathy none, grow -0)
Flowers and leaves are used in healing poultices, fragrent potions bandages and peace candles.

Maiden's Hair (common -1, 1s/pound, sympathy Irian (1), grow -4)
A long trailing herb with small bright flowers. Often favoured for love potions. Can be used in the crossroads charm.

Mistletoe (common -0, 2s/sprig, sympathy Libra (2), grow -3)
The flowers must be collected on a solstice or midsummer, and should be cut with a blessed blade. Such mistletoe is used in aphrodesiacs, Osseka's Ointment, holy incense, periats and potions of weakness. It is often kept in special glass containers.

Marsh Mallow (uncommon -3, 2s/pound, sympathy none, grow -8)
A marsh flower. Can be used to treat gut aches and indigestions. A component in curse charms.


N


Nautilus Shell (rare -6, 4ata/shell, sympathy none)
These shells appear only on the beaches of far isles after great storms from the west. The dust can be used in a number of alchemical preparations or magic powder, while fragments can be worked into amulets.


O


Olive Oil (common -0, 5-6s/gallon, sympathy none, grow -0)
Used as a base for essential and magial oils for which nut and seed oils will not do. Grows in the south and on Stonsay.

Oak (common +2, negligible, sympathy none, grow -0)
Oak leaves are used in sprain ointments, healing potions, blade oil and dust of tracelessness. Twigs are used in many charms. Bark is used in protective oils and potions, while gall is used in inks and Iron potions. Lightning struck oak is used in the blessing of stone.

Rockfish Venom (uncommon -3, 7s/venom sack, sympathy none)
The venom sack cut from the rockfish of the inner sea can be used both as a powerful poison and a potent curative.

Roses and Dog Rose (common -0, negligible, sympathy Draco (1), grow -0)
Rose petals, attar of roses, and rose water are used in love potions, rose oil, protective candles, oil of beauty and incense. Red and White Roses are most valued.

Suntull Leaf (uncommon -3, 8p/pound, sympathy none, grow -3)
A healing plant with power over fevers and brain sickness.

Shikan Seed (rare -5, 1s/dose, sympathy none, grow -4)
This yellow seed is a highly addictive drug, causing pale skin, weakness and shaking hands. It can also be used as a brilliant pigment when dried.

St. Arum's Flower (rare -6, 5s/flower, sympathy Rotor (2), grow -8)
This rare star shaped flower grows only in dense woodlands. It is a very potent herb, usable in the Periapt of marvelous healing and other valuable concoctions.

Vervain (uncommon -3, 1-2s/pound, sympathy Aries (1), grow -2)
A potent protective herb that grows by roadsides and shady hill slopes. Used in protective candles, aphrodesiacs, periapts, poultices, oil of preserving, magic powder.


W


Witche's Finger (rare -5, 2s/handful, sympathy none, grow -5)
This fungi is used in the potion of Lethe and the dust of tracelessness, as well as weakness potions.

White Lady (rare -5, 6ata/ounce, sympathy none)
An incredibly rare stone, which crumbles in to fibres in the hand. It is said to be both potent and dangerous.
