Father Angolo

Father Angolo is often called the best painter to ever live in Tanaloth. A pious man who was born in the year 300 he rose to prominance for his incredible decoration of some of the small chapels in the catedral and the monestary of the Rock. Some of his famous works include the portait of the 8th Archpriest Ulfadder, and the Master's Chapel in the Dyer's Guild Headquarters.

Festivals

The church of Atur has many festivals, for the Martyrs, on their briths and deaths, for important High Priests, at Midwinter and Midsummer, and the equinoxes of Autumn and Spring. The most significant of these are:

Finneal, Saint

Saint Finneal was a priest who founded the first community on the isle of Konnisay, one of the most famous of the island churches. It was this island that came under the heaviest attack by the barbarians of the isles when they attempted to drive the true faith from the sea. Ten times the monestary was attacked from the sea but Finneal would never hear of moving from the sacred place. At last, in the eleventh attack the monestary was raised and Finneal perished in the flames, but the monestary was rebuilt in his memory and has stood ever since. Finneal is generally shown as an old man carrying a staff, wrapped around in the flames of his death.

Fonts

Fonts hold a special place in the church of Atur, because of the original font from which the Blood of Au flows. Each church and many shrines have a small font used to name children with their birth name and their second name when they reach the age of Anointment. The font is almost always kept in a small dark side room, lit by a single light.

Funeral

When someone dies it is of crucial importance that the body is properly given the funeral ritual, otherwise their soul will not pass into the arms of Atur properly. If it not possible for the body to be brought to a Priest to be burried or to be bound in gravecloth and laid to rest in a crypt, then it should be burnt, and the ashes collected to be blessed before being interred.
