Hans' Diary : Egypt (8)

Eventually I reach the great temple at Abu Simbel. Could there really be a hidden treasure here, in a place that had been moved by the Egyptian Government?

Maybe the key is not the temple that was moved, but where it was moved too. I am sure that this is the place that all the clues have led me too.

Standing before the gates of the Temple I wonder what mysteries may lie within. There is only one way to find out ... by going in.

As I venture into the darkness of the temple I realise that I am not alone. Out of the darkness steps a beautiful woman, a Queen of the Nile.

"Explorer" she said "I have been watching you on your journey. Come with me outside and I will show you the path to the mystery you seek ... if you have the strength to take it."

The Queen leads me to the foot of a great statue. "Long has the cup you seek been hidden in ancient chambers" she says "And it will not be asy for you to find it. Only if you are strong enough, brave enough, and cunning enough, will you be able to uncover it."

Quite a stern warning! But I'm not the kind of guy to give up on a challenge easily, especially after coming such a long way, so I am dermined to do it. "A little danger naver scared me" I say "Lets get on with it ...."

Then she tells me about a secret entrance to a hidden temple, and shows me the way that leads to a narrow passage. After than I am on my own ...

Here is the entrance to the tunnel ... it doesn't look very inviting, but it seems to be the only way to reach the hidden temple.

Its a very long way, and very dark, and not nice at all ... but at last I find myself emerging from the tunnel into a hidden temple. If that's the worse the place has to offer then I'll have no trouble!

The tunnel leads me out into a vast deserted temple. Its a wonder the locals have never noticed the place. When I see this carved on the wall I know I am in the right place. Its the symbol of the Templars carved right into the hieroglyphics on the wall!

I venture on from the carvings and into a hypostyle hall as still as a grave.

Only then do I realise that there may be a little more than pillars waiting for me ...

To be continued ...
