Hans' Diary : Edinburgh (3)

    

Finally we reach Rosslyn Chapel, an ancient church that lies seven miles from Edinburgh.

Heinz tells me that the Chapel was built by the Templars far in the past, founded in 1446, modelled on the Holy of Holies in the heart of Jerusalem. Furthermore the tales say that they spirited something very valubale and very holy from the Crusades and hid it here.

Sounds just like my kind of place!



Obviously I let heinz park the car ...

Not much of a parking lot though.



Leaving the car we head to the door of the Church. Looking at it I feel a strange sense of mystery and foreboding, as if there is something pressing down upon me, and I have a strong feeling that getting this chalice is not going to be as easy as I think.


Within the Chapel is fantastically carved, filled with strange windows and faces that gaze at us from the stonework. Heinz and I take it carefully! Not knowing quite where to start we begin to search the chapel from one end to the other.

At last we find this entrance to a subterrainian chamber and I know that this was the way we needed to go. Heinz and I take our weapons, and then as silently as we can we slip down the stairs and go below.



Little did I know that we were being watched ...
