Hans' Diary : Edinburgh (2) |

We set off through the city on our way to Roslyn Chapel. On the way we manage to stop off for a few sightseeing moments.
But then disaster strikes! With a terrible sputter the car jerks to a stop, and then smoke and flames begin to roar up out of it! Heinz tries vainly to put out the flames while I grab the stuff out of the back of the car, but there is nothing we can do to stop it burning out. Now we are stuck in the middle of Edinburgh with no car!
Spying a nearby fair in the middle of the Edinburgh Meadows I suggest to Heinz that we might be able to find a new car there. He tells me that the Meadows is a large area of park right in the middle of the city, usually used for football and dog walking, but that we have been lucky enough to break down beside it on the weekend of the Meadows Fair, which has a fun park and a market!
It takes a while (and a lot of pouring rain that thankfully clears up after a while hiding in a stall) browsing through all the stalls before we find something that might suit, and then we have to haggle for a good price. Luckily the car is a little beat up and the woman at the stall only charges us 30p, what a bargain! The two of us fill the car up with petrol, grab our guns and head off again. On the way we stop for some refreshments, from a very nice lady selling doughnuts and drinks. I order a drink and she regails me with the story of her brother, neice, daughter and camera. Then I spy a stall with a raffle going on ... I never could resist a raffle. Sadly even though the nice people give me at least twice as many tickets as I pay for I don't win a thing!
Finally we manage to get on our way again and head out across the park and past the funfair. Hopefully there will be no more obstacles on the way to our destination in the ruined temple ...
