RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 23, 2002 Playmobil Groups Merging!!!!The owners of some of the Yahoo Playmobil discussion groups, together with some of the more active members, have been holding very public dissuasions - virtually "public hearings!" - on the possibility of merging into a single more active group. Both logic and logistics seem overwhelmingly in favor of such a merger. For example, in the current situation there are an uncertain number of Playmobil oriented Yahoo groups (perhaps a dozen) and newcomers don't really know where to turn in this confusion. Our energy and ideas are dissipated and members who might profit from "meeting" each other don't/can't because they signed up for the wrong group(s)! AWAY WITH THE OLD!!!...was the virtually unanimous consensus. Through compromise and really good ATTITUDE - we all WANTED so much for this to work - we have given birth to a brand spanking new "PlaymobilGroup" here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PlaymobilGroup We're a "Public" group, which means you can read our messages without having to join. (We have nothing to hide!) There are no entry requirements, no fees, no questionnaires, just what we need to know to get messages to you. Some existing groups, such as PlaymoSeven and Playmobil2, which are owned by Playmo fans who strongly supported the "merger," are planning to shut down - literally disappear - August 1. Playmobil2, by the way, was owned by Ty Hathaway- Bevington, the new chairman of PlaymobilGroup. Ty is a very energetic, generous and pleasant fellow with a sincere dedication to this project and a desire to accommodate all interests. There is an excellent photo of Ty, here: http://profiles.yahoo.com/tribarhelmet It is our policy to open the Group to all kinds of Playmobil interests, including "photostories, photography, wargaming, building tips, history of the Playmoplanet, collecting, news, customizing, and good old-fashioned play." However, while adults are well represented in our recent discussions, we very much welcome participation by youngsters. Several of our founding members have strong feelings about keeping the doors open for kids - which means we watch our language and maybe tone things down a bit. Please, come visit, come join! Please, see for yourself! We have already developed a strong tradition of speaking up and david e. williams |
