Our first
offering of the Captured Beauties is the P47D
"Beetle". One of the worst stories of bad luck
to come from a P47D pilot has to be the tale of how this
plane ended up in the enemies' hands. "Click"

Second in
this series is the Nakajima B5N2 Kate. Pictures and data
on this aircraft are scarce. Using photos of other
aircraft, we pieced together some of the trim painting so
this particular livery may not be 100 percent accurate
but we believe it to be very close. In any event, it is a
very nice model and can be constructed with reasonable
skills

And now,
the first War Prize model from Roman Vasilyev
(Kampfflieger), a little known Curtiss-Wright CW-21B.
Captured and tested by the Japanese and tested at the
Tachikawa Test Center at Singapore in May, 1943.

This
time we have the plane that was secretly shipped to the
US, painted to represent a different aircraft, tested,
restored to it's original livery and returned.
Interesting story :-) from the early days of the Cold War
Era.

When
the German Army took over Latvia, they used anything
possible to add to their war machine. This included
aircraft. If it was something that had little value as a
weapon then it was used as either a trainer, shuttle or
recreational craft. And so was the end use of the best
plane designed by Karl Irbitis, one of Latvia's great
designers. As a production plane it would have had
retractable gear among other refinements. Sadly, only
three of this craft were built.
