My Journal of Our 1997 Trip to Ecuador
-- by Donna R. Carter

The links throughout this page lead to my journal entries and masses of pictures that we took during our December, 1997 trip to Ecuador. We were fantastically lucky to be able to get all over the place, seeing the coast, the central corridor and the edge of the jungle. The weather was superb and we managed to see most of the snowcaps that we were anywhere near. To those who have ever lived in or visited Ecuador, I hope these pictures bring you a taste of my heart home in a way that you haven't experienced in a long time.

The trip was great -- clear to partly cloudy skies for all but one day which was drizzly. We saw the mountains, we saw the coast, we saw the jungle (at least, the edge of it)

We breathed the air, ate the food (avoided drinking the water) ... I drank enough bottled mineral water to make up for that!! and we didn't get sick (except for a few bouts of discomfies with car sickness), but no major throwing up or amoeba's or anything... (no hepatitis or yellow fever either).

All the newspapers were screaming "El Niño is wreaking havoc on the coast" but where we went on the northern coast there was gorgeous weather...
