~^~ Shopping Amazonas One Last Time ~^~ Monday ~^~ July 14, 2003
I hung around with Anne-Marie until about 11:30, when we drove in to Quito and dropped her youngest (Melody Grace) off with Michio. We went from there to do some last-minute shopping at the Otavalan market downtown again. Anne-Marie wanted to get something for her mother in Holland, as they were going to see her on the 18th.
We found something for her mom and a few things for me... (Don't even ask me how I would be able to pack this stuff... I had that extra duffel bag full already!)
We got back to the mission around 2:00. I stopped at Q'Mas for some empanadas for lunch - I was hungry! I got a couple of Fiora Lights to go with it, and I sat at the umbrella tables at what used to be the baptismal area on the mission compound (there's still a baptismal pool there, but behind it are a few tables with umbrellas. I saw Lois Vasconez and we chatted a bit.
Anne-Marie had to do some recording, so I just relaxed under the umbrellas until she was finished.
It was about 4:30 when we left. By the time we got back to Anne-Marie's, it was time for me to go to the Moncayo's where I would be staying until Friday. We had a cup of tea first, and then she drove me over.
I stayed in a sort of apartment off of the main house, with my own room, bath and a little office area, but I used the computer in Aracely's room.
