ECUADOR - My June/July 2003 Trip Journal -- by Donna R. Carter
The following pages are a journal of my most recent, June/July 2003, trip to Ecuador. My original plan for the trip was going to be for a mini reunion-planning class reunion for the week of June 29-July 6.
However, I thought, since I was already planning to go for that...
...I should try to do something about repairing my grandfather's grave site.
...and I needed to meet the Moncayo artist family, since we do represent them here in the U.S.
...and why not add a week of Spanish lessons to perk up my grammar and vocabulary?
...and it's important to have some extra time to just hang out!
...and I must take advantage of being close by and fly down to Guayaquil to meet the girl we've been sponsoring through Children International!
...Add in trips to Otavalo, Papallacta, Pifo, Baños and Shell ...
The one-week trip ended up being a four-week epic vacation with "unexpected adventures" and schedule changes. I cancelled a planned stay on a farm in the crater of an extinct volcano, but then I added an excursion to Baños and Quisapincha, and a week's stay at the Moncayo's!
Throughout the entire visit, I shared many hours and many meals with friends old and new. It was absolutely fabulous in every way.
I am working on getting these pages complete. I have managed to get a quickly clickable gallery photo section linked from each page they pertain to, although I don't have the individual pictures in proper order yet, and I haven't got the link from the final picture back to the originating written page yet so you have to use your back button to come back - I'm working on figuring that out (thanks for bearing with me)
Each written page links to the next, so you just click on the link at the bottom of each page to follow through to the next day's log. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy "going along with me" on my trip to my heart-home, by way of this journal.
