I was born on July 16, 1962, in Waukesha, Wisconsin. 9 pounds 11 ounces (ouch! sorry, mom!) and 21" long.
My parents, a few years after I was born, moved to Ecuador, South America, to be missionaries with HCJB, a short-wave radio station. Mom was a missionary kid from Venezuela (her parents, my grandparents were pioneer missionaries in Venezuela and Ecuador), my dad grew up in Peoria, Illinois.
We lived in the tiny Andean village of Papallacta when we first moved to Ecuador. My dad was in charge of the hydro-electric plant there. Shortly thereafter, we shifted between Papallacta and Pifo, a small town where the transmitter site was located. When I was about seven, we moved to Quito, the capital city of Ecuador, and I went to Alliance Academy, an american mission school where I spent most of my school years.
Every four years, we would return to the U.S. on a "furlough" and we'd live in Wheaton, IL for a year -- I was there for 4th grade and 9th grade. My parents resigned from the mission in 1979 and moved to Wheaton permanently when I was in 12th grade.
After graduating early at the public school in Wheaton, I moved to Addison, Illinois and then to Elmhurst, Illinois, but the flat midwest just didn't cut it -- I missed the mountains. In late 1983 I moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I lived for seven years. From there, I moved in 1990 to El Paso, Texas, then, in 1991 to Dallas, Texas, and later that same year I settled in Arlington, Texas until 1996, then I got moved to Holland, Michigan, got married, and lived there for 6 years, until ... (yes, you can breathe now) now I live in Beloit, Wisconsin (Can you believe...full circle back into the state where I was born!) with my husband and daughter.
I love reading, writing, cooking, music (listening, singing, playing guitar, clarinet, saxophone, keyboard, whatever I can get my hands on...) and art work. I enjoy speaking Spanish as often as I can find the chance, I am on the computer quite often, chatting on AOL's AIM, MSN Messenger or Yahoo! Messenger, or surfing the web, or exchanging email on several email lists. I've had many different jobs -- from driving a semi to being a legal secretary to owning an in-home word processing/translating business, and home schooling (which I still do) -- but the most important job I've had is the one I have now -- wife and mom. And I love it.
